Vision: Engaging the area-wide Church in your city in 10 Days of worship, prayer, and fasting based on the fall Biblical feasts with an emphasis on uniting believers, drawing them deeper in their faith through a common experience of God’s presence, and longing for His return.
Purpose:
1) Revealing Unity - Revealing and advancing the unity of the Body of Christ in your area through a corporate time of consecration that engages a large cross-section of believers
2) Seeking Maturity - Awakening, strengthening, and purifying believers individually through an extended season of engagement with God and withdrawal from things of the world
3) Desiring Christ’s Return - A specific emphasis of the fall 10 days is on “eagerly waiting” (Rom 8:25) for the return of Christ.
Consecrated Time is the overall theme of the 10 days. Through experiences on retreat, at prayer summits, in fasting, or other extended times of worship, many of us have experienced the power of extended times set-apart to seek God. The 10 Days is designed to usher many Christians within a given geographical area into this type of experience together. The result is an acceleration of God’s activity as many people and groups have transforming encounters with God within the span of 10 Days. Each year we invite people to take the entire 10 Day period off in order to seek the Lord. While so far most people are reluctant to do this, those who have said “yes” have often experienced times of dramatic change and transformation in God’s presence
Fasting: Participating ministries will extend an invitation to 10 days of fasting (Sept 5-14 2013). We recommend that believers consider a Daniel Fast (vegan fast) or a liquid fast for the 10 Days.
Ongoing Worship and Prayer is the heart of the 10 days. Believers are invited to set themselves apart for corporate worship and prayer, taking time off from “normal life”. This is expressed corporately by setting up a location or locations for ongoing corporate prayer. 24/7 prayer is optional; another strategy is simply to have morning, afternoon, and evening corporate prayer/worship gatherings.
Evening Gatherings are the most visible part of the 10 days. Each night, a different group of congregations and ministries will host a gathering of worship, prayer, and communion in a different location. People who attend from night to night will experience the Church her diverse array of ethnicities, traditions, and geography.
Many Cities: The vision for this time is for many cities/regions to come together at the same time each year. In 2012, 3 cities/areas had 10 evening gatherings with ongoing prayer.
Fall Feasts: 10 Days occurs during the 10 “days of Awe” on the Biblical calendar, beginning with the Day of Trumpets and ending with the Day of Atonement. These dates symbolically point to both the finished work of the cross and the return of Christ.
